I’m ecstatic with how this album turned out for Rico Nasty. She really put her all in Nasty. It seemed like forever that I was waiting for a female rapper to come out with hard-hitting beats and matching lyrics, Rico most definitely showed up. The first time I ever heard of Rico Nasty was during the second season of Issa Rae’s ‘Insecure’. They played ‘Poppin’ and I swear that song had me so hype. With some research on her past discography, I became a fan very fast. Nasty has most of its production coming from Kenny Beats, and boy is the production insane. Rico’s energy with the full force of Kenny’s beats is undeniably great. I play this album at least every other day since it came out on June 15th. My favorite songs from this album are ‘Trust Issues’, ‘Pressing Me’, ‘Ice Cream’, ‘Oreo’, and ‘ Won’t Change’. I believe it’s safe to say that Rico Nasty is my “Spirit Animal”. The way that Rico captures her femininity and unbreakable confidence, and displays it in a male-dominated genre is very admirable. She is the one to watch for, and she is coming at lightning speed.
