Young Thug, Thugger, Jeffery, Sex, etc. However you want to call this man, we all know who you are referring to. To a die-hard fan, it’s hard to believe that So Much Fun has finally reached number 1 on the Billboard charts considering all of his other great albums. However, the quality of this album is so outstanding that it would actually make one say “Okay, I can understand how So Much Fun made number 1”.
Looking back at Young Thug’s mixtapes like The Barter 6, Slime Season 1-3, Jeffery, and even his Rich Gang project Tha Tour Pt. 1 with Rich Homie Quan, we all seen Thug’s potential and hunger for this music. His core fanbase was created from his genius that was heard on his earlier mixtapes.
When Jeffery came out, this particular mixtape reached more of the masses due to his features, the mixtape cover art, and the fact that it was readily available on most digital streaming platforms. Fans gravitated towards the songs “Wyclef Jean” and “Kanye West”. Even though this mixtape didn’t see any groundbreaking remarks/reviews, it opened many eyes of the curious and left a multitude of fans wondering what’s to follow after this project.
Easy Breezy Beautiful Thugger Girls. This is the album that Thugger made a point to do something different with, which is to tap into the country side of his creativity. Hey, and he did just that. His frequent feature; Millie Go Lightly has shown and proved over multiple songs that the two of them can make beautiful country music that is infused over 808 beats. This album was more appreciated than it was shown over the charts. Regardless of the numbers, it’s evident that EBBTG met the goal that Thug was trying to accomplish.
August 16th, 2019 Young Thug released So Much Fun. This album is MORE than so much fun. Each song has its own unique characteristic to it that no one can get enough of. Not to mention that this album literally has no skips. Not many artists can develop an album with more than 10 songs that provides the listener with a straight run-through album and has excellent replay value. Young Thug’s hard work paid off on August 25th when So Much Fun landed number 1 on the Billboard 200. With Thug staying true to his familiar flow and cadence, he didn’t stray far away from what makes him who he is. That ever-so-simple formula catapulted him to the top where he belongs. Congratulations Young Thug.
